You can enable the camera flash and image stabilization, or import an image from Photos or other document providers if you don’t want to take a new picture using Prizmo Go. There are some options you can test in the camera view. Prizmo Go’s real-time text recognition via Cloud OCR. I’ve never seen anything like Prizmo Go’s real-time OCR in the camera before. The visual effect is remarkable: it feels like the iPhone’s camera is capable of parsing entire paragraphs of text in less than two seconds, which is even more impressive when you consider that OCR is happening in the cloud. Even with Cloud OCR enabled (which you can confirm with the cloud icon at the top of the screen), it only takes a second for text to be processed and highlighted inside the camera. As soon as you point the camera to something that has text in it (a document, a business card, another screen – whatever you want), you’ll get real-time text highlights directly in the camera view. ![]() ![]() Furthermore, there are other fascinating technical bits under the hood for both local and Cloud OCR: Prizmo Go offers image stabilization through sharpness tracking, and it pre-processes an image as you’re holding the iPhone’s camera to capture a document by doing perspective correction and a dynamic rescale to ensure the app is properly tracking the text you’ve meant to identify.Īll of this results in an innovative text scanner where Cloud OCR has been seamlessly integrated with iOS hardware. To make Cloud OCR work in the app, Creaceed had to cleverly optimize the app’s engine for additional options: for instance, Prizmo Go supports both horizontal and vertical lines of text in Japanese via Cloud OCR – which required adjusting the app’s document layout engine to make the camera and API work together. Local, on-device character recognition built on Creaceed’s engine still exists with support for 10 languages, offline mode, and automatic language detection, but Cloud OCR (how the feature is called in the app) is what differentiates Prizmo Go from Prizmo.īy relying on Microsoft’s Computer Vision API, Cloud OCR in Prizmo Go can automatically detect text in 22 languages, including ones that aren’t supported by the built-in, non-cloud OCR such as Chinese, Japanese, and Arabic. Unlike its predecessor, Prizmo Go implements Microsoft’s Cognitive Services tech to perform cloud-based OCR. I’ve been using Prizmo Go for the past couple of weeks, and it’s one of the most intriguing apps I’ve tried in a while because it genuinely offers something new. ![]() While OCR was a feature of Prizmo, it becomes the cornerstone of the experience in Prizmo Go, which takes advantage of impressive new OCR technologies to make character recognition smarter, faster, and better integrated with other iOS apps. With Prizmo Go, released today on the App Store, Creaceed is doubling down on Prizmo’s best feature with a separate app that’s been entirely designed with OCR and sharing text in mind. Prizmo could be used as a scanner app for paperless workflows, but I preferred to keep it on my devices as a dedicated utility to effortlessly extract and share text. While most scanner apps focus on digitizing documents and exporting PDFs, Prizmo complemented that functionality with the ability to recognize and share text with just a couple of taps. Developed by Creaceed, Prizmo has always stood out among iOS scanner apps thanks to its accurate and fast OCR. I’ve long been using Prizmo to quickly extract text contained in photos using the iPhone’s camera. ![]() These may not be the easiest relationships, but they'll still make for great matches because they help you grow. "It’s important to be open, as our soulmates are often the people with whom we are here to stretch, grow, and do our spiritual work." So you may be surprised to find that your soulmate may not be a zodiac sign that you're not usually compatible with. But it's also important to note that soulmates don't necessarily have to be romantic. If you're lucky, your soulmate will be the person you end up with. "You can feel as if you have a soul contract to meet and be in some kind of relationship because the connection feels fated or destined." "A soulmate is a person with whom you have a deep soul connection with," astrologer Rachel Lang, tells Bustle. And when you know which zodiac signs are most compatible with yours, you may be able to tell which zodiac signs are most likely your soulmate. ![]() If you love baking cookies, invest in a silicone mat.For extra flavor and crunch, roll the dough balls in granulated sugar before baking. You can use a trigger cookie scoop when forming the balls to create uniform sizes, but you’ll still need to pack them with your hands to tighten them up. Stop beating as soon as you no longer see streaks of flour. Otherwise, the cookies will be dense and dry. Mix the batter well, but don’t overwork it.Natural peanut butter should only have one ingredient: peanuts. Pro-tip: if using natural peanut butter, be sure to check the label. You can easily remedy this by freezing the dough for 30 minutes. When baking, the oil from the peanut butter rises to the surface of the cookies, making them a bit greasy and crumbly.Īlso, because of the oil, the cookie dough will most likely be too soft and quite a challenge to shape. You see, natural peanut butter doesn’t contain stabilizers, which causes the oil to separate from the peanuts. The downside to this is that the cookies will be greasy. I personally don’t like using it, but if you’re on a keto diet, all-natural peanut butter is the way to go. There’s a debate as to whether all-natural peanut butter is good for this recipe.Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes, and it’ll turn into a viscous substance similar to egg whites. ![]() Just combine 2 tablespoons of ground flaxseed and 5 tablespoons of water.
![]() It takes a certain kind of mentality to play Farming Simulator at length, and that mentality doesn’t lend itself to griefers or trolls. Despite the documentation and information the developers failed to provide, the community is incredibly friendly and helpful. Further, the mission types seem a little strange… no missions for delivering certain crops to certain houses? No scrambling to save a field from a pest outbreak? How about a mission where you have to drive your water trailer to assist the fire department to help extinguish a burning building? While reward money is good, mowing grass is incredibly boring, and the mission system simply doesn’t feel rewarding enough. ![]() The problem is, you don’t have the equipment to perform either mission when you start off with a new career, so you’ll be forced to decline the mission unless you spend all your first-day profits on the machines. There are only two types of missions that ask you to mow some grass or move heavy equipment across the town. There is no punishment for failing a mission, and they pay really well when you’re starting out, but they’re executed poorly. To help keep you busy during those slow early days, you’re given regular “missions” to earn you some extra cash. Those aren’t the only presentation missteps. It’s a step backwards the previous game in the series featured a tutorial that had you take a tour of the town and learn what exactly the buildings did, so it’s strange that it’s not included in this version. The map itself is huge, so you may get mixed up when you first start out. The map doesn’t tell you what each building is, so you’ll have to drive around to learn the lay of the land. For example, there are five selling points for your crops around the town, and each accepts different freight. By the time you’re done, you’ll know exactly how to drive all your vehicles but not other essential tasks. All the tutorials focus solely on controls rather than techniques or theories. The tutorials will help smooth out the learning curve, but the lessons are a mixed bag. Hiring those workers is the key to running a successful and profitable farm, especially when you’re trying to manage a half-dozen fields or more at once. AI-controlled workers can be hired for most tasks, and watching how they perform can teach you techniques to use when you get behind the wheel. However, there are subtleties that are under-mentioned or completely undocumented that require some practice to master. Admittedly, the act of virtual farming doesn’t sound like it would require a complex series of steps to perform, given that most of your job involves jumping in a tractor, attaching a tool, and slowly driving in straight lines. As a result the gameplay is incredibly peaceful, though possibly a bit daunting for newcomers to the series. In both modes, the game will not fail you for slow production or even no production at all. ![]() Even in multiplayer, all players work together on a single farm. In a single-player career, there is only you, the farm, and the AI townspeople who wander around but can’t be interacted with. The most unusual aspect of Farming Simulator 2013 is the complete lack of competition. The entire system gives you a tremendous amount of freedom in how to best approach your business, although that first week will be fairly slow-paced. ![]() More valuable crops take extra work and extra machines in order to maximize your profits, so you need to decide whether you’re willing to make the investment or stick to simple but low-value crops. Livestock, more or bigger fields, and faster machines are all available, so you’ll have to think about what best suits your particular play style. It could take hundreds of hours of work to afford everything, but you have complete freedom in how you accomplish your goal and what your priorities are. As you increase the number of fields you own, it can take more than a dozen tractors and tools to coordinate all the work and minimize downtime. There are dozens of licensed vehicles, forty plots of land (of which you only start with one), and additional buildings such as solar collectors and greenhouses that you can sink your money into. Still, you should harvest as much as you can because of the sheer number of investments you can make into your business. These virtual devices correspond to the keys and events DOSBox will report to the DOS applications. The different weapons use four different ammunition types (bullets, shells, rockets and energy cells), so collecting the right type for a certain gun is important. When you start the mapper (either with CTRL-F1 or -startmapper as a commandline argument to the DOSBox executable) you are presented with a virtual keyboard and a virtual joystick. ![]() Two further weapons in the game are the chainsaw for close-quarter carnage, and the BFG9000 energy gun, that, while taking some practice to fire correctly, can destroy most enemies in a single burst. The rocket launcher also deals out lots of damage, but the explosion causes blast damage and must be used with care in confined areas or it might prove deadly to the player as well as the enemies. Also available are a shotgun (high damage, slow reload, not good at distances), a chaingun (high firing rate, but slightly inaccurate in longer bursts) and a plasma rifle (combining a high firing rate and large damage). The starting weapons are the fists and a simple pistol. An automap helps in navigating the levels.ĭOOM features a large weapon arsenal, with most weapons having both advantages and drawbacks. There are outdoor areas, pools of radioactive waste that hurt the player, ceilings that come down and crush him, and unlike Wolfenstein’s orthogonally aligned corridors, the walls in DOOM can be in any angle to each other. The engine simulates different heights (stairs and lifts appear frequently) and different lighting conditions (some rooms are pitch black, others only barely illuminated). The game’s engine technology is more advanced than Wolfenstein’s, and thus the levels are more varied and complex. Switches and buttons must be pressed to advance at certain points and often color-coded locked doors will block the way – matching keycards or skull keys must be found to pass. Since dozens of enemies stand in the way, the only way to get there is through killing them. The basic objective in each level is simply to reach the exit. The full game continues on Deimos in The Shores of Hell and culminates in Inferno, the final episode which takes place in Hell itself (the Sega 32x version lacks this episode). ![]() The first episode, Knee-Deep in the Dead, takes place in the Phobos base and is freely available as shareware. Like Wolfenstein, the game consists of distinct episodes, playable in any order. Id Software’s follow-up to their genre-defining Wolfenstein 3D, DOOM is another first-person 3D shooter: full-on action seen from the space marine’s perspective. It falls to the surviving marine to grab some guns and strike back at the demons. A squad of marines is sent to Phobos, but all except one are quickly slaughtered. Phobos base is overrun with demonic creatures, and the whole of Deimos simply vanishes. It seems the scientists have opened a gateway straight to Hell. After early successes, something goes wrong.
